Kettering College Bachelor’s in Nursing Program Goes Online

Kettering, Ohio (May 25) — Beginning with the fall semester, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing completion program at Kettering College of Medical Arts will be available entirely online, increasing access to registered nurses local and worldwide. The program is Kettering College’s first fully online curriculum.

This program offers registered nurses a way to add a bachelor’s degree without the restrictions of having to attend class at a specific time in a specific location. The entire BSN program is offered online, not just the upper-division nursing courses, which is the case with some other online programs. The program also provides flexibility for students, in that they can attend either full- or part-time. Admission requirements are simple – the program asks only for proof of an RN license and the completion of an associate’s degree or a diploma in nursing.

“We are excited about the chance to offer our program to more students. The program has a learner-driven approach and is very challenging,” said BSN program chair, Sharon Millard, Ph.D., RN. “We moved the curriculum online because working nurses need to have better, and easier, access to educational programs. We have an extremely good program, so making it available to more nurses is important to us and to them.”

Program faculty are employed full-time by Kettering College and understand the mission and vision of the college. This means that students have the option of meeting personally with their faculty on-campus, rather than always interacting online. Students also have the option of taking a number of their support courses at the kc campus, if they wish.

“The program is designed to give students the best options to meet their lifestyles, and each student will receive individualized advising to develop a schedule of courses that best suits his or her needs,” said Millard. “Our students are in the driver’s seat for their education.

“Kettering College’s Christian approach and emphasis on whole-person care is very important to our students. Our students’ ability to meet the needs of their clients is enhanced because of who we are and what we advocate.”

More information about the online BSN program is available on the college’s web site. Kettering College has offered its own bachelor’s in nursing program since 2001.
