Is the degree offered entirely online?
No, the program is categorized as a blended program. It begins with one or two courses online and slowly moves to completely online in the third year of the program.
How long will it take to earn my degree?
If the curriculum is followed as outlined, it will take 3 years or 9 semesters.
Can I be enrolled as a part-time student or must I be a full-time?
Yes, you can be a part-time student; however, it will delay graduation and you may be out of sequence for some courses. Some courses are not taught every semester.
Can I start any semester?
Yes, you can start any semester but this may cause you to be out of sequence for some courses that build on one another. Your advisor will help you with this.
If I take the OT-track will I automatically be considered for the Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program at Kettering College?
No, you must apply to the OTD program separately; however, you are given more consideration for admission than students who have not gone to school at Kettering College in the past.
How do I apply?
You can apply online through Kettering College’s website for free. You will need to apply specifically for the BSHS-healthcare management or BSHS-healthcare management OT tack. You may apply at any time during the year as admission is on a continuous basis. If you meet college minimum requirements, you will be admitted to the program.
What can I do with this degree?
Graduates with a degree from the BSHS program can manage in hospital and community healthcare facilities. There is a need for managers that are trained to understands the nuances of healthcare professionals, patients and families without having to be a patient care specialist. This degree will provide you with experiences and specific training to handle any administrative challenge in the healthcare field.
By choosing the pre-OT track, you will be prepared to continue your graduate degree in the field of occupational therapy.
How much will this degree cost?
How many hours per week will I need to study?
This depends upon the individual. To be successful, you should plan on an average of 5-6 hours per week of study time for a 3-credit-hour semester course.
As this is a blended program, remember that online education does not take less time or effort than traditional, in-the-classroom study. The advantage of online study is that you have access to courses 24 hours a day and can complete assignments at your convenience and in the comfort of your home or workplace.
What kind of resources are available to students studying in a blended program?
You have online access to your course schedules, transcripts, grades, viewing and paying your bills, and online registration.

Online and on-campus tutoring services are available to students. Specific areas of interest to BSHS students are writing and statistics.
Online and on-campus students have access to an online reference librarian. The BSHS online students, even if they live out-of-state, have access to a wealth of library resources because our library is connected to OhioLINK, which links many libraries in Ohio.
What computer proficiency is needed, and what are the technical requirements for online study?
Computer skills include proficiency in the Microsoft Windows environment — primarily word-processing, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint. The ability to navigate the internet and to use email with attachments also is needed.
