Kettering College Virtual Spring Commencement Ceremony Details

FRIDAY, MAY 8, 2020–Kettering College’s virtual graduation ceremony is today, Friday, May 8, 2020, at 6:30 pm, for spring graduates instead of an in-person ceremony, which was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

To view the graduation ceremony, students, faculty, staff, and family can just click the play button below:

Using a digital platform created by a British tech company, StageClip, graduates were able to record a video message or submit a photo with their smartphones, tablets or laptops that will appear on a custom slide with their name, photo and a personal message.

The footage from all graduates has been edited together to create a ceremony procession, preceded by a welcome address by Kettering College President Nate Brandstater, and then streamed live for graduates, their families and friends via YouTube to create a celebratory communal event.

Individual achievements will also be recognized as each student is announced by name, before receiving their recognition in an individual clip for sharing on social media and keeping forever. And for students in need of a cap and gown, StageClip created a Snapchat augmented reality lens that places them in the attire for both undergraduate and graduate students.

“Nothing matters more to us than the success of our students,” said President Brandstater. “Commencement is the most public way we celebrate that success, and I am thrilled to be joining our faculty and staff in celebrating digitally the amazing accomplishments of our students.”
