Kettering College Invests in New Sonography Equipment to Enhance Student Learning

The sonography department recently gained approval to purchase an obstetric ultrasound simulator costing a total of $42,616. This investment will enhance sonography student learning by allowing them to efficiently practice ultrasound scanning in obstetrics. The simulator has a normal fetal scan and, more importantly, will also allow students to practice scanning fetal anomalies without being in a patient setting.

Professor Susan Price, Director of the Medical Sonography Program at Kettering College said this new equipment will be a wonderful teaching tool. “It will improve student confidence and their knowledge of obstetrical scanning anomalies without undue stress on obstetrical patients,” she says.

Price also commented that prospective students and educators alike are noticing the innovative and quality programs at Kettering College, “In June of this year the Kettering College sonography program was listed on Study.com in the Top 10 Ultrasound and Sonography Technology Programs in the country. It was fulfilling to know that our program is gaining recognition for its quality and innovation.”

This purchase is a part of a recent investment plan that emphasizes college technology and academic program equipment improvements stated President Nate Brandstater. “We strive to support our programs in their pursuit of academic leadership so that our college will continue to be at the forefront of quality healthcare education.”
