Kettering College celebrates its expansion into Greene County
Kettering College is celebrating its expansion into Greene County and its new occupational therapy doctoral program with a ribbon-cutting ceremonyfor elected officials, community leaders, and Kettering College, Kettering Health Network and hospital leadership onTuesday, October 27 at 3:30 p.m. at the Kettering College Ollie Davis Center at 68 Darst Road in Beavercreek near Indian Ripple Road.
Twenty students are making history at Kettering College this fall as the inaugural class in the occupational therapy doctoral (OTD) program — the school’s first doctoral program and one of only 21 OTD programs in the United States.
Choosing applicants for the inaugural class was no easy task, says Terrance Anderson, OTD program director. “More than 200 people applied for 18 spots, and we interviewed 85 of them,” he said. “Because of the quality of our applicant pool, we decided to expand the class to 20 students rather than the original 18.”
The program is being launched at a time when the American Occupational Therapy Association is encouraging the development of entry-level doctoral programs. “Occupational therapy is a growing field and is demanding more professionals who have post-graduate degrees,” explains Nate Brandstater, president of Kettering College, "We are thrilled to be offering an innovative doctoral program that will propel Kettering College into the future of health care."
