Kettering College Remembers Dr. Norman Wendth
Kettering College mourns the passing of Dr. Norman Wendth, who served as Dean of Academic Affairs from 1997 to 2007. His leadership and dedication during that decade left a lasting impact on the college community.


Before joining Kettering College, Dr. Wendth held several academic positions, including chair of the Department of English and chair of the Division of General Studies at Atlantic Union College; professor of English at Pacific Union College in Angwin, California; English instructor at Nihon Saniku Gakuin in Sodegaura, Japan; and English instructor at Loma Linda University in Riverside, California.
Dr. Wendth earned his doctorate in English from Claremont Graduate School (now Claremont Graduate University) in Claremont, California. He also held a master’s degree in English from Loma Linda University and a bachelor’s degree in English from Atlantic Union College.
His commitment to education extended beyond the classroom. He was active in a number of professional organizations and initiatives, including serving as chair of the Executive Committee of Chief Academic Officers for the Southwestern Ohio Council of Higher Education (SOCHE) from 2002 to 2004. He was also secretary of the Board of Trustees for the John Henry Weidner Foundation, a member of the Board of Trustees for the Dayton Peace Accords Project, and chair of the Seventh-day Adventist Commission on Collaboration—through which he helped create the national Seventh-day Adventist College Consortium. Additionally, he was a former member of the Grants and Awards Committee of the Robinson Jeffers Association.
Dr. Wendth will be remembered for his academic leadership, intellectual passion, and service to both his students and the broader educational community.
