Scott Calhoun, PhD, joined Kettering College as a Professor of Healthcare Humanities in 2025. He has 25 years of university-level experience teaching in the fields of writing, rhetoric, literature, literary and narrative theory, the philosophy of literary arts and humanities, and the history of the English language. At Kettering College, he teaches courses in writing, rhetoric, and narrative medicine. He has a Masters in Pastoral Ministry as well as Clinical Pastoral Education training, and enjoys working as a hospital chaplain and bringing those experiences into the classroom to inform his teaching on healthcare professions as service and ministry. His academic interests extend to the thought and literature of C. S. Lewis and the Inklings as well as popular music studies, specifically the music, work, and influence of U2. He created the U2 Conference for supporting fans and scholars as they explore how U2's creativity plays a role in meaning making and inspiration for personal, cultural, and political concerns.
