Report a CARES Concern

Kettering College CARES Team
Campus Assessment, Response, and Engagement Support

At Kettering College, we believe in caring for the whole person: body, mind, and spirit. The Kettering College CARES Team is a collaborative group of faculty and staff dedicated to identifying and supporting students who may be in distress or exhibiting concerning behaviors.

Our mission is simple: to see, hear, and respond to the needs of our campus community so every student feels safe, supported, and valued. Through early outreach and coordinated care, we help connect students to the right resources at the right time.

Mission:

To provide a proactive, compassionate, and confidential resource for identifying, assessing, and responding to concerns about students of the Kettering College community.

Vision:

A safe, connected campus where every individual can thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

Our Values in Action

The work of the CARES Team is deeply connected to Kettering College’s core values:

• Compassion – Meeting each individual with empathy and understanding.
• Service – Proactively addressing needs and concerns to support well-being.
• Collaboration – Working across departments to coordinate resources and solutions.
• Integrity – Handling all concerns with discretion, respect, and fairness.
• Excellence – Striving to provide the highest level of care and responsiveness

When to Contact the CARES Team:

You can submit a CARES referral when you notice a student is:
• Showing signs of significant emotional distress
• Experiencing changes in mood, appearance, or behavior
• Talking about harm to self or others
• Disengaging from academics or campus life
• Struggling with housing, relationships, or other personal challenges

How It Works
• Submit a CARES Referral – Anyone can share a concern through our secure online form.
• Team Review – The CARES Team reviews the information and determines next steps.
• Connection and Support – We reach out to the individual to offer resources, encouragement, and ongoing follow-up.

Confidentiality
All referrals are handled sensitively. Information is shared only with those who have a legitimate need to know to support the individual and maintain campus safety.

If This is an Emergency:
Call 911 or the Kettering Health Police Department at 937.395. 8695 immediately. The CARES Team is not an emergency response service.
