Dr. Nicole Orian grew up in Valentine, Nebraska, and graduated from Union College with degrees in Nursing and Business in 2004. After graduation, she began her clinical practice in the Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit and was overjoyed at the invitation to join the Union College Nursing faculty just a few years later to teach at her alma mater. Dr. Orian served for 14 years at Union College as a member of the faculty including 7 years as the Chair of the Division of Nursing. During her tenure as a nursing professor, she completed a Master of Science in Nursing degree at Nebraska Wesleyan University (2009) and a Doctor of Nursing Practice with an emphasis in Health Systems Executive Leadership through the University of Pittsburgh (2016). While serving at Union College, Dr. Orian enjoyed teaching students in a variety of didactic and clinical courses, recruiting students, supporting the faculty with curriculum development and systematic program evaluation, and providing leadership and vision for the strategic, operational, and financial direction of the Nursing Program. In 2021, Dr, Orian began teaching online for the Kettering College Division of Nursing. She also serves as the Chair of Graduate Nursing Programs spending her time developing curriculum at the graduate level. Dr. Orian is an active member of the College View Seventh-day Adventist Church and serves as a board member at College View Academy. If you ask her what she is most proud of, she will undoubtedly say her family which includes her husband, Matthew, and her children, Jacob, Hailey, and Madison. Dr. Orian has dedicated her life to helping others as a wife, as a mother, as a friend, as an educator, and as a nurse.
