Augusto Silvitzke joined the faculty at Kettering College in 2025 as an professor of religion and psychology in the Humanities department. Originally from Brazil, Silvitzke completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree in both Psychology and Theology in Argentina, where he lived and worked for over a decade. He also worked as a Psychology professor, teaching at the university level. Silvitzke has a passion for the integration of theology and psychology, bringing a unique perspective to the classroom. With over a decade of experience in the mission field, he has worked in training individuals for intercultural missionary work, equipping them to develop psychological tools to effectively work in diverse cultural settings. In addition to teaching, Silvitzke continues to work as a clinician, providing online therapy to clients, combining academic expertise with practical application.
His recent scholarly work has focused on the ontology of death and the death of Christ, as well as studying the coping mechanisms of Third Culture Kids (TCKs) as they navigate cultural adaptation.
