Kettering College Alumna Finds Success and Fulfillment
A Kettering College graduate recently reached out to thank us for her education and launch into a career she loves. Here’s what she had to say:
“My name is Tesla Dafler and I graduated from Kettering College with an associates degree in Radiologic Sciences and Imaging in July of 2014. After graduation, my life became quite busy! I was studying non-stop for my state boards, got married a few weeks after passing my boards and I accepted a full-time position in Oxford, Ohio as an x-ray tech.
A few months after accepting my first job, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to job train in CT where I was able to complete all of my competencies and sit for another state board test. A year later I accepted a full-time position as an x-ray and CT technologist through Kettering Health, and I have to say that I absolutely love it!
I have worked at a few different facilities throughout Kettering Health and have gained so much experience ranging anywhere from surgery and fluoroscopic procedures to general outpatient x-ray and CT exams. The reason why I chose to pursue a degree in imaging sciences is because I have always had an interest in anatomy and physiology, especially the human skeletal system.
In the fall of 2018, I decided to go back to Kettering College to pursue a bachelors degree in Health Sciences with an emphasis in management and education. I graduated from the program in the summer of 2020 and my goal is to eventually move on to pursue another degree (what that will be, only God knows). At this point in my life, I am content working full-time and enjoying motherhood. I have an 11 month old who constantly keeps me on my toes, but I would not have life any other way!
There was a time in my life where I struggled when it came to pursing a career that was best fit for me. When I stepped into the doors of Kettering College as a transfer student, and met with a few faculty members, I knew this was the exact place for me.
Throughout my many years of attending classes at Kettering College, I was never thought of being just a number to faculty and I was always known by name. The faculty were always so kind and caring. They always wanted students to succeed and found ways to make sure there was complete academic success.
There were many times where faculty would come in early or stay late when it came to homework and studying for exams to give the best advice, and come up with ways to help students understand the material. When taking online courses, faculty members were very quick in responding to messages and emails. I will never forget that on the tough and stressful days, faculty would always pray over students or leave scripture verses in Canvas for students to relate to, which meant so much.
I just want to say thank you to all faculty and staff at Kettering College. If it were not for all of you, I would not be where I am today. I look forward to staying in touch with fellow classmates, and faculty along with watching for announcements on the Kettering Alumni page. Who knows, I might be back for another degree in the future!”
Thank you so much for reaching out to us, Tesla! There is nothing we enjoy more than hearing from our former students who have gone on to touch so many lives in their careers while finding joy and fulfillment in their work.
