Kettering College Creates New Major in Healthcare Management

Kettering College will begin offering a new healthcare management major for students who are interested in pursuing a career in business in the healthcare industry. The three-year, full-time course of study is equivalent to a four-year degree. Classes will begin in August 2016.

“This major will prepare students to work on the business side of health care in a management role ,” said Paula Reams, PhD, chair of the health sciences department at Kettering College. “The major also offers a pre-occupational therapy track for students who are interested in going on to a graduate-level occupational therapy program, such as Kettering College's occupational therapy doctoral program.”

About half of the courses in the program are offered on the Kettering College campus, the other half online. All students will take a total of approximately 125 hours, including general education and business management courses. During their final year, students will complete an internship at a local healthcare organization to gain real-world experience.

Prospective students, including current high school seniors and nontraditional students who want to pursue a career in healthcare management or occupational therapy, can apply online at www. kc.edu. Anyone interested in learning more about this new major is invited to attend an information session on Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.at the college, located at 3737 Southern Blvd.in Kettering.
