Kettering College: Faith-Based Campus with a Culture of Service

Kettering College believes in guiding our students to be their best, both personally and professionally. As a faith-based college, we walk alongside them to grow and explore their spiritual side. Our goal is not to convince anyone to follow a certain path, but rather to embrace a life of service and understand the importance of this.

As a Christian college, we believe in the power of prayer, and our professors offer this service to students, if they are open to it. One recent sonography graduate says, “I’ve never had a professor pray with me before a test before, and it really touched me. Those little touches reminded me I was cared for at Kettering College.”

This doesn’t mean students have to be spiritual or Christian to attend Kettering College. We meet students where they are and acknowledge a spiritual path is personal. For students who are already on that path, we offer a spiritual care minor to help cultivate empathy to help them best serve their patients one day.

Part of being a faith-based college means we have established a culture of service. Our service-learning curriculum introduces events to our students where they help others and grow as individuals in the process. Each month, we partner with local non-profit organizations to assist those in need in the Dayton area.

We offer optional international medical missions (IMM) trips where students can serve others beyond our country to embrace a life of service and challenge themselves to be out of their comfort zones. A recent physician assistant studies graduate attended an IMM trip to Sierra Leone, Africa, and says she is forever changed and humbled by the experience.

Our campus ministries group offers a variety of weekly events to bring faith alive through worship and fellowship. Our campus chaplain offers one-on-one discussions with students about spirituality and guidance through challenging times. Whether a student wants prayer, discussion, or has questions, our campus chaplain knows students by their name and makes sure they are surrounded with care, judgment-free listening, and prayer.
