Kettering College Prepares for 44th Commencement

Kettering, Ohio (April 23) – On Saturday, April 28, Kettering College will confer degrees and certificates on 262 students at the school’s 44th annual commencement ceremonies. The event will be held at the Dayton Convention Center, starting at 8 p.m., and is open to the public. Richard Hart, president of Loma Linda (Calif.) University, will be the keynote speaker.

College president Dr. Charles Scriven will grant 163 Associate of Science (A.S.) degrees in the following areas: nursing (115), diagnostic medical sonography (18), radiologic technology (16), respiratory care (13), and nuclear medicine (1). Five certificates of completion in computed tomography and two in magnetic resonance imaging also will be granted.

A total of 55 bachelor’s degrees will be awarded, including 23 to graduates of the Bachelor of Science in nursing. Twenty-one Bachelor of Science in human biology degrees and four Bachelor of Science in diagnostic medical sonography degrees will be presented. Twelve Bachelor of Science in health professions degrees will be granted in the following specialties: health care professional studies (7), advanced imaging (3), and respiratory care (1).

Also notable will be the commencement of 37 students from the school’s graduate program, the Master of Physician Assistant Studies.

Seven of the graduating students will receive special recognition as members of the Vaughan-Beaven Service Learning Honors Program. These honors graduates are Eric Abraham (human biology), Chris Atkins (human biology), Brent Brubaker (nursing), Sarah Clark (nursing), Robin Emerson (health professions), Andrew Fellers (human biology), and Allison Peters (nursing).

Keynote speaker Richard Hart has served at Loma Linda since 1972, in a variety of roles including chair of the Department of Health Sciences, director of the Center for Health Promotion, chair of the School of Medicine Department of Preventive Medicine, dean of the School of Public Health, and chancellor/CEO of the University. In 2008, Hart was named president of Loma Linda University Adventist Health Sciences Center, as well as president of Loma Linda University and Loma Linda University Medical Center.
