New Nurses Often Make over $65,000 at First Job

Can you imagine graduating from college and stepping into a lucrative nursing career without having to work your way up to a comfortable salary years from now? We can, because we see it every year at Kettering College and Kettering Health.

ZipRecruiter researched the average beginning salary in 2022 for newly graduated nurses to be $50,152 in the United States and $46,090 in Dayton, Ohio. Kettering Health, however, wants to do better than that. Nurses who graduate from Kettering College begin their first nursing job at Kettering Health at around $69,000 on their first day.*

This starting salary doesn’t include the additional $15,000** sign-on bonus for all Kettering Health nurses or additional income gained from supplemental nursing work, such as administering vaccinations at clinics, which nurses often choose to do.

We are proud to pay well-above the average*, ensuring nurses know their value and our gratitude by offering them financial stability for a noble profession that is in high demand. In fact, most Kettering College nursing students already have an offer to begin their nursing career at Kettering Health before they have their diploma in hand.

Yes, attending Kettering College costs money, and it might take some financial sacrifice and grit to get nursing students to the finish line. But the day our students become nurses, they know immediately they made the right choice, and the hard work was worth it. We know this because they tell us time and time again.

Can you see yourself as a nurse? Have you imagined it but talked yourself out of it? Right now, there are nursing students at Kettering College just like you who felt the same doubt you do but moved toward their goals and are on their way toward financial freedom.

Nursing students are sometimes straight out of high school as first-generation college students in their family. Sometimes they’re older working professionals who have been laid off or want to change careers, or veterans answering the next call of service. Often, they are single moms or stay-at-home parents wanting to provide more financial stability for their families.

Kettering College nursing graduates can begin to pay off any student loan debt they accrued while studying here as they begin a nursing career with a starting salary of around $69,000 a year and a sign-on bonus of $15,000**. Our starting nursing salary is so impressive because we are serious about nursing, and we want nurses who have the same vision of excellence as we do.

If you feel the call to be a nurse and make the world a better place while enjoying financial security, we would love to tell you about Kettering College’s nursing program, give you a tour of our campus, and answer any questions you might have.
