Nichole Nordeman performing free concert at Kettering College

The Kettering College Office of Spiritual Life and Kettering Seventh-day Adventist Church welcome Christian singer/songwriter Nichole Nordeman to Dayton for a free concert on Friday, Feb. 28, at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The concert will take place at Kettering Adventist Church, located at 3939 Stonebridge Rd. in Kettering. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome. A freewill offering will be collected.

Known as much for her songwriting as for her singing, Nordeman has received nine Dove Awards over the last 10 years, including two for “Female Vocalist of the Year.” The first singles, from 1998’s album Wide Eyed, “To Know You” and “Who You Are,” broke new ground in Christian radio, striking a chord with listeners nationwide. Both songs were written while Nordeman was working as a waitress in Los Angeles, long before a record deal was even a possibility in her mind.

Nordeman’s most recent solo album, Ultimate Collection, was released in 2009. She took time off from recording and touring to focus on raising her children, then became involved in creating the music for (Music Inspired By) The Story, which was released in 2011. She can be seen, with other high-profile performers such as Casting Crowns, Steven Curtis Chapman, Natalie Grant, and Matthew West, on The Story Tour around Christmas each year. In addition to songwriting, Nordeman also wrote the book, Love Story, which was released in 2012.
