Kettering College Student Becomes U.S. Citizen

A Kettering College senior sonography student recently became a United States citizen. His classmates and instructors, along with some members of the college administration, surprised him with a celebration to show their support.

Espoir Iranzi was born and raised in Rwanda in East Africa. He has lived in several different countries, learning multiple languages and experiencing different cultures throughout his life. He says that coming to the United States was a new experience for him, but it wasn’t the first time he and his family has moved and adapted to new ways of life.

“This is truly a land of opportunities, and becoming a citizen puts it all within reach.”

-Espoir Iranzi

Iranzi’s seven siblings and his parents are undoubtedly proud of him as he pursues his degree at Kettering College. He says, “I found out about Kettering College through a fellow student. Thanks to God, my amazing family, and my wonderful professors and classmates who have all helped me learn and grow, I have found my place in this welcoming Kettering College community.”

He adds, “I plan to complete the sonography program and advance my knowledge through the physician assistant studies program. I will use all that experience and expertise to go out into the world and fulfill God’s calling on my life—to serve people. I also plan to visit my African home occasionally and serve the locals there.

When asked how it feels to have U.S. citizenship, Iranzi answers, “It feels wonderful. This is truly a land of opportunities, and becoming a citizen puts it all within reach.”

Congratulations, Espoir Iranzi! We can’t wait to see what is next for you!
