Dr. Benjamin Carson to Speak at KCMA Commencement

Benjamin Carson, MD, preeminent and innovative pediatric neurosurgeon and Director of theDivision of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, will address 188 graduating students at commencement exercises for Kettering College of Medical Arts on Saturday, April 30. Ceremonies are slated to begin a 8 p.m. in the Dayton Convention Center and are open to the public.

Dr. Carson, who has devoted his life to the ministry of healing, also is a long-time advocate of early childhood reading and reading in the home; he is the author of "Think Big" and "Gifted Hands." He believes his career of globally recognized medical achievements is an example of what a life dedicated to God and dedicated to excellence can do. "There is no such thing as an average human being," he says. "If you have a normal brain, you are superior." He met many challenges in his own life with this philosophy and encourages young people around the country to learn to meet their highest potential.

Benjamin Carson is a particularly appropriate speaker for the college's graduation because, as an institution of Christian higher education, Kettering College of Medical Arts is dedicated to graduating health care professionals who practice excellent, whole-person care in the tradition of The Master Healer.
