Initiating his teaching journey in 2005 after obtaining a BS in mathematics from Walla Walla University, Dr. Engelman concurrently pursued a master's in mathematics education at Western Michigan University. Immersed in a three-year program on K-12 education assessment, he furthered his studies in mathematics education at the doctoral level. Joining Kettering College in 2011, Dr. Engelman expanded his instructional scope to include physics. In 2016, he completed his PhD at the University of Cincinnati, concentrating on physics education and mixed methods research. Since then, he has incorporated his love of rockets into his teaching. Dr. Engelman became the Science and Mathematics chair in 2025.
