What is Hazing?

Hazing refers to any activity or behavior, often performed as part of a group initiation, that intentionally or recklessly causes physical or emotional harm or humiliation to new members. Hazing can take many forms, ranging from verbal abuse and humiliation to dangerous or life-threatening activities.

Hazing violates the Kettering College Code of Student Conduct and Ohio State Law. Violation of these policies and laws can be enforced only when reported to the College. Informal and unofficial acts of initiation are strictly prohibited.

Kettering College Anti-Hazing Policy:

As a member of the Kettering College community, each student, faculty, and staff member share the responsibility of building and maintaining an environment of safety and respect for others. It is critical to the success of the institution and each individual that the campus is free of hazing. It is not only against the institutional policy, but it is against the law.

Collin’s Law requires that the institution immediately report any hazing incidents to local authorities and disclose the incident on the institutional website.

Kettering College strictly prohibits and condemns all acts and forms of hazing. Prevention of hazing is the responsibility of the entire college community.
