Kettering College Service Day Builds Community
September 17, 2024 —Service is a core focus of Kettering College’s curriculum to create healthcare professionals who are equipped to care for others. Volunteering is, therefore, an essential part of every student’s experience.
To embrace this, Kettering College took part in our fourth annual campus-wide Community Service Day. Nearly 550 students, faculty, and staff worked together to assist 48 participating non-profit organizations around the greater Dayton area.
Dr. Lynette Williams is the chair of the Community Engagement Committee, and Renee Fite is the co-chair. They worked with organizations to establish what tasks our volunteers would assist with and coordinated the all-campus event. Several organizations have participated in Kettering College’s Service Day since the first year, with several more joining each year.
Dr. Williams says, “Service Day exemplifies Kettering College’s mission to serve our community. This day promotes the development of a lifelong commitment to service for our students and partnerships within our community for service.”
Renee Fite has received several emails from various participating organizations, commenting on what a blessing this day was for them. She says, “Several people have commented that our students and leader volunteers were the best they have had. I have had nothing but positive feedback on what an amazing job they all did on Community Service Day!”
Thank you to group leaders who submitted their photos from the day. Marketing’s full flickr feed from the day can also be found here.
