Radiologic Sciences & Technology Department Attends Important Events

The Radiologic Sciences & Imaging (Rad Tech) department attended the 12th Annual Greater Dayton Imaging Professionals Recognition Event at Sinclair Community College. Sinclair Community College hosts this event every year. Dr. Tuta Ionescu, Rad Tech chair and professor, says, “It is by far the largest opportunity for Dayton imaging people to meet, share a meal, and catch up for the year.”

The Greater Dayton Imaging Professionals awards are a way to personally acknowledge those who excel in all areas of medical imaging. Macy Zierolf is a senior Rad Tech student at Kettering College, and she received the prestigious Student of the Year award at the event.

Macy received several nominations from colleagues celebrating her attention to detail, positive personality, and curiosity for learning. One nomination explained, “From the first day, I knew she was going to set standards high by the way she presented herself with great confidence, even in the face of adversity. Her charisma is demonstrated through her never-give-up attitude and ambition to give the patient the best experience and exam possible. She shows she cares through her dedication to patient safety and comfort, and making sure the exam is done to the best of her ability…She will be an amazing tech, and we hope to spend many years and more great memories with her at our facility.”

Rad Tech Event Returns to Campus

The Clinical Preceptors workshop returned to the Rad Tech department after a several-year break due to COVID-19 limitations. Dr. Ionescus says, “The objective of the workshop is to train our clinical preceptors on how to work with our students, our policies, and access to our electronic clinical system. We like providing opportunities for our techs from all our clinical site affiliates to come to campus, earn free clinical education credits, tour our facilities, and connect with each other. We desire and plan to provide this workshop every year as it is enjoyed by all. Topics are relevant to student education as well as professional work and life in general.”

The Rad Tech faculty presented the following presentations to workshop participants:

  • Continuing Qualifications Requirements
  • Cultural Adaptation: An Immigrant’s Perspective on Assimilation and Professional Careers
  • Assessing The Learning Strategies of Adults
